Our children are counting on us to do what Ephesians 6:4 teaches us: ” . . . bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

Our children are counting on us to provide a childhood they can look back on with the memories Paul said that Timothy had. In 2 Timothy 3:14-15 he told Timothy: ". . . from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

Our children are counting on us to open our mouths to say the most important things. As we learn in Psalm 78:1-4:

Listen, O my people, to my instruction; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us. We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.

Our children are counting on us to begin their education where God says it begins. As we learn in Proverbs 1:7:

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

In Mark 8:36-37, Jesus asked: For what does it benefit a person to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? For what could a person give in exchange for his soul?

What would it benefit our children if we homeschooled them only for the present and did not train them for forever?
