I’ve seen eagles near our home twice. The first time was several years ago while I was driving home from church on a Sunday when Ray had been under the weather and had stayed at home. As I drove along, I noticed something unusual sitting on a tree branch that hung over the road. When I got close, I discovered that it was a bald eagle.
I drove on home and got my camera. When I came back ten or fifteen minutes later, the contented eagle was still sitting there. I took a picture — not the most beautiful eagle picture in the world, but special to me because it was my first. To my delight, my husband and I saw the eagle at right at Mendenhall Glacier near Juneau, Alaska. Trust me, this picture is much better than my first.
One time an eagle crossed the driveway on the property beside us and soared on and on over the hills. It was a beautiful sight.
When Solomon wrote Proverbs, he spoke of four things that amazed him.
There are three things which are too wonderful for me,
Four which I do not understand:
The way of an eagle in the sky,
The way of a serpent on a rock,
The way of a ship
in the middle of the sea,
And the way of a man with a maid.
Proverbs 30:18-19 NASB
I’m amazed by all those things, too.
I’m also amazed at what you do every day. Thank you for homeschooling your children.
My prayer for you today is that you will wait for the Lord, gain new strength, mount up with wings like eagles, keep on running and not get tired, keep on walking and not become weary.
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.

God sees you every day. He knows your unseen, faithful work. Remember what Jesus said about faithful work that people don’t see. In the beautiful language of the King James Version:
But when thou doest alms,
let not thy left hand know what
thy right hand doeth:
That thine alms may be in secret:
and thy Father which seeth in secret
himself shall reward thee openly.
